Making the Case for Mental Health Investment

The Commission has just published a short paper on the making the long-term case for investing in mental health. This paper brings together the arguments that may be made to make the business and other cases for mental health promotion and treatment. It reviews the scientific evidence for investment in relation to 12 different areas and focuses on economic and other returns on this investment. -
First Report on Implementation of Mental Health Pact

The Commission has published a first report on the implementation of the mental health pact. It contains material relevant to all five settings of concern, including schools, workplaces and older people’s residences. It also contains summary accounts of the conclusions from the thematic conferences that were held as part of the Pact. -
Launch of the MindHealth e-Learning Courses

The Finnish WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Policy Visited GeroCenter in Jyväskylä Finland

The aim of this visit to the GeroCenter in Jyväskylä Finland was to familiarise the ongoing projects and activities of both the GeroCenter and WHO CC. The aim of the GeroCenter is to maintain and promote functional ability and well-being among older people as well as to generate the intellectual and operational prerequisites for good aging. This aim is approached on the basis of knowledge gained from gerontology and other disciplines focusing on aging research. In the GeroCenter service-providers, private businesses and researchers create a forum for wide interaction in the broad field of ageing issues. At this interface, the research results are translated into social innovations and potential service products.
