Talking it Better: Child Mental Health

About the conference This one day conference will look at child mental health; the role and provision of talking therapies and other evidence-based services within schools and communities, and the impact of a child’s family and school environment on their mental health. Key themes to be explored will include school-based mental health initiatives; dealing with stigma; working across services; improving transition from child to adult services; defining, measuring and delivering outcomes; and how to achieve return on investment. Aims of the conference
- Consider an ecological, whole person approach to dealing with mental health problems with children and young people
- Explore the impact of parental mental health issues on children and vice-versa
- Identify and showcase good practice in joined up delivery at a community/school level
- Discuss opportunities for training and knowledge sharing around mental health service provision in schools
- Understand the new role of the local authority in service provision – opportunities, risks and room for improvement
