In past years, many national governments and international organizations have launched various strategies for occupational safety and health, and have begun their implementation. One of the most important findings of the first Strategy Conference was that these strategies are generally still being followed in isolation and without co-ordination. The focus of the second Strategy Conference in February 2011 is to improve co-ordination between the various national and international strategies. In Dresden, delegates from governments, international institutions and the research community will discuss the burning question: What are the core topics (“Pillars”) that are common to the various OSH strategies worldwide and how can these be implemented in a national context? The aim of the conference is to develop a blueprint for improving structures and processes which establish a prevention culture at socio-political, business and societal levels. The conference is being organized by the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) in conjunction with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Social Security Association (ISSA), the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA) and the International Association of Labour Inspection (IALI).
